Zoho CRM’s mandatory classic-UI retirement (hard deadline, no opt-out), and smaller quality-of-life upgrades in Zoho Mail and Zoho Writer

Your weekly briefing on the Zoho updates that actually matter for running your business.

This week’s Zoho release calendar was quiet on volume but not on stakes: Zoho CRM is retiring its classic interface for good, on a hard, edition-by-edition deadline, while Zoho Mail and Zoho Writer picked up smaller, genuinely useful upgrades. Here’s what changed and why it matters.

Zoho CRM: The Classic UI Is Retiring — No Opt-Out

Rolling out July 15–24, 2026

Zoho confirmed a phased, mandatory retirement of CRM’s classic (old) interface:

  • Free, Standard, and Professional editions: retiring July 15–17, 2026.
  • Enterprise, Ultimate, and Bundle editions: retiring July 21–24, 2026.
  • All users are automatically migrated to the Next Gen UI (“CRM for Everyone”): Teamspaces, Team Modules, connected records and workflows, a unified Interactions tab, and dark mode.
  • There is no opt-out once an edition’s cutover date passes.

Why it matters: This isn’t a preview or a beta anymore—it’s a forced migration on a real calendar. Any client team still working in classic CRM needs a walkthrough of the new UI before their edition’s date hits, or they’ll land in it cold. Given the Enterprise/Ultimate/Bundle cutover is happening this week, this is the one item in this post that needs action, not just awareness.

Zoho Mail & Zoho Writer: Small Upgrades, Real Time Savers

Rolled out the week of July 13–17

  • Zoho Mail — Advanced Group Settings: a dedicated admin panel per email group covering permissions (who can send to the group), auto-response templates, bounce-failure thresholds, and allow/hold/reject rules by address.
  • Zoho Mail (iOS) — Spam controls & sender verification: one-tap block/reject sender, tracking-pixel warnings, one-tap unsubscribe, and sender-verification icons in the mobile app.
  • Zoho Writer — Conditional logic and AI-assisted formulas: merge templates now support IF/ELSE IF/ELSE conditional logic in a single formula field, plus an AI assistant that can generate, fix, or improve formulas from a prompt, along with 12 new string functions.

Why it matters: None of these are headline features, but they’re the kind of thing that quietly saves an hour a week. The Mail group settings cut down on admin overhead for clients running shared inboxes like sales@ or support@, and Writer’s conditional formulas help with merge templates for quotes or contracts that carry conditional pricing or discount logic—no more manual formula troubleshooting.

The Honest Read on the Rest

Outside of CRM, Mail, and Writer, this was a genuinely quiet week—we checked release notes and community feeds across the full Zoho One roster (Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR, Service, BI, Projects, Developer tools, and Security) and found nothing else dated inside the last seven days. Most other apps’ most recent substantive updates land in May or June. A couple of things worth flagging while we were in there: Zoho Checkout doesn’t appear to have a dedicated public release-notes page, unlike its sibling finance apps, which makes it harder to track changes there. And on the staffing side, Zoho Shifts hasn’t posted an update since January 2026, and Zoho Workerly’s page hasn’t moved since May 2025—worth knowing if you’re relying on those pages to stay current on scheduling features.

That’s the briefing. We’ll be back next week with whatever Zoho ships next—and what it means for the way you actually run your business.
