This Week in Zoho: Field Service Goes Mobile-First (and IT Gets Tighter Security)

Your weekly briefing on the Zoho updates that actually matter for running your business.

Zoho ships improvements constantly—across more than 45 applications. Most of those updates never reach the people who would benefit from them, because no one has time to read fifty release-note pages every week. That’s the gap this new series is built to close. Each week, we cut through the noise and surface the Zoho changes that move the needle for mid-market operations.

This week was a quiet one on the release calendar. But two updates stood out—one for any team running field service, and one for the IT and service desks that keep everything else running.

Zoho FSM: Mobile Updates That Hand Control Back to the Field

iOS app v2.7.0 (June 28) · Android app v2.3.11 (June 26)

Zoho’s Field Service Management app got a meaningful pair of mobile releases this week, and the theme is clear: give technicians more control from the job site, so less work waits until they’re back at a desk. Highlights:

  • Start and stop timesheets right in the app—time is captured where the work happens, not reconstructed later.
  • Service Appointment Service Report field mappings, so details carry over automatically instead of being re-keyed.
  • Job-sheet data now flows into service reports, and reports can be cloned for repeat or recurring work.
  • Custom To, Cc, and Bcc on estimate and report emails—the right people get the document without manual forwarding.

Why it matters: Field teams lose real money to paperwork drift—hours logged from memory, reports rebuilt at the end of the day, billing that trails the work by a week. These changes tighten the loop between the job and the back office, which means more accurate time capture, faster invoicing, and cleaner service records. If you have clients running field operations on Zoho FSM, this is worth a quick app update and a note to their techs.

ServiceDesk Plus: A Small Release With Real Security and Admin Gains

ManageEngine (Zoho Corp’s IT management division) · June 22

ServiceDesk Plus shipped a pre-release update on the Cloud edition, plus a companion release for MSP teams. Nothing flashy—but the kind of housekeeping that quietly strengthens an IT operation:

  • Webhook header encryption, so credentials passed in automation headers are no longer sitting in plain text.
  • A new project scheduling and closure settings tab, with settings that copy from templates—less repetitive setup for IT project work.
  • Least-privilege scopes for Azure DevOps integrations, narrowing access to only what’s needed.
  • For MSPs: multi-tenant user import from Microsoft Entra ID, simplifying provisioning across client tenants.

Why it matters: Security posture is built from small, unglamorous improvements like these. Encrypted webhook headers and tighter integration scopes reduce the surface area for a credential leak, and the provisioning changes save real time for teams managing users at scale. Worth flagging to anyone administering ServiceDesk Plus.

The Honest Read on a Quiet Week

We’d rather tell you straight than pad the page. Across the rest of the Zoho One lineup, most apps publish monthly roundups rather than weekly notes, so nothing else carried a confirmed release date inside this week. A few June monthly roundups are worth a glance when you have a moment—Zoho CRM (field masking and expanded layout rules), Zoho Mail (external-recipient warnings and bulk email assignment), Zoho Cliq (connect AI agents directly to your workspace), Zoho WorkDrive (sync more desktop folders, AI summaries for audio and video), and Zoho Books (Walmart and Shopify enhancements for US users).

That’s the briefing. We’ll be back next week with whatever Zoho ships next—and what it means for the way you actually run your business.
